Terms of Service

These terms are an agreement between you and Lingwei Wu (ABN 24 426 726 719), trading as Vocara (“Vocara”, “we”, “us”), for your use of the Vocara desktop application and the vocara.im website (together, the “Service”). By using the Service you agree to these terms.

1. The Service

Vocara provides real-time transcription and translation of game audio, displayed as subtitles in an on-screen overlay on Windows. The Service is currently in beta: features may change, and occasional interruptions or inaccuracies — including transcription and translation errors — are expected. Do not rely on captions where a misunderstanding could cause harm.

2. Accounts

You must provide a valid email address to create an account, and you are responsible for activity that occurs under it. Keep your sign-in method (email inbox or Google account) secure. You must be at least 13 years old to use the Service; if you are under 18, you confirm a parent or guardian has agreed to these terms on your behalf.

3. Subscriptions and billing

• Paid plans are billed in advance on a monthly or yearly basis via Stripe, and renew automatically until cancelled.
• You can cancel anytime from the billing portal; your plan remains active until the end of the current billing period.
• Free-tier usage is subject to monthly limits, which we may adjust with notice.
• If we change prices, the new price applies from your next billing period, and we will notify you in advance.
• Refunds are handled under our Refund Policy.

4. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

• use the Service to violate any law or the rights of others, including recording or monitoring others’ communications where you do not have the right to do so;
• resell, sublicense, or provide the Service to third parties as a service;
• attempt to probe, disrupt, reverse engineer, or gain unauthorised access to the Service or its infrastructure, except to the extent such a restriction is not permitted by law;
• use the Service to develop or operate cheating, automation, or unauthorised-advantage tools for any game.

5. Third-party games and anti-cheat

Vocara is an independent product. We are not affiliated with, sponsored by, or endorsed by Riot Games or any other game publisher. Game titles are trademarks of their respective owners.

Vocara is designed to operate outside the game process: it does not inject code, read game memory, capture or analyse your screen, modify game files, or automate input. However, game publishers and anti-cheat vendors control their own policies and enforcement, and these can change. You are responsible for ensuring your use of Vocara complies with the terms of service of the games you play, and you use the Service with third-party games at your own risk.

6. Intellectual property

We own the Service, including its software, branding, and content (excluding your data). We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to install and use the app on your devices for your own use while these terms are in effect. Transcripts and translations generated from your sessions are yours to use.

7. Privacy

Our Privacy Policy explains what information we collect and how we handle it, including how game audio is processed.

8. Disclaimers and liability

Nothing in these terms excludes, restricts, or modifies any consumer guarantee, right, or remedy you have under the Australian Consumer Law or other laws that cannot be excluded. Where our liability can be limited, it is limited (at our election) to re-supplying the Service or paying the cost of re-supply, and our total liability to you is capped at the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim arose. To the extent permitted by law, the Service is otherwise provided “as is”, and we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, or for actions taken by game publishers or anti-cheat vendors in connection with your use of third-party software.

9. Suspension and termination

You can stop using the Service and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate your access if you materially breach these terms, if required by law, or if we discontinue the Service (in which case we will give reasonable notice and a pro-rata refund of any prepaid, unused period).

10. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms as the Service evolves. We will post the updated version on this page and update the date above; material changes will be notified in the app or by email. Continued use after changes take effect constitutes acceptance.

11. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the Australian Capital Territory, Australia, and you submit to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of that territory.
